Charles Payne of Fox Business said Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams had no ground to stand on when he criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
During Tuesday’s Fox News broadcast of “Outnumbered,” Payne responded to a condescending tweet Adams sent to DeSantis, who was visiting New York to attend a law enforcement event.
To DeSantis’ arrival in New York, Adams tweeted, “Welcome to NYC, @GovRonDeSantis, a place where we don’t ban books, discriminate against our LGBTQ+ neighbors, use asylum seekers as props, or let the government stand between a woman and health care. We’re happy to teach you something about values while you’re here.”
Payne responded by saying Adams shouldn’t go after Florida for allegedly “banning books” when his own students were struggling to pass reading tests.
Moreover, Payne pointed out that Adams’ claim about asylum seekers didn’t wash either, since Democrats accepted migrants and let them cross the border until they crossed into their “sanctuary” cities and states.
In New York City’s public schools, fewer than half of students (49%) were proficient in English language arts according to 2022 data. The number showed an increase from 2019, when 47.4% of NYC students tested above proficiency.
In an absolutely savage response, Charles Payne rightfully called out New York City Mayor Eric Adams for his condescending comment to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. It is so true that before going after other’s values, Adams urgently needs to focus on the problems that he has failed to address in his own state. Reading test performances in NYC are so low that it’s appalling when Adams talks about banning books in other states. Payne took him to task and rightly so!
