Outrage was the response Senator Ted Cruz had when a group of Stanford Law students shouted down and hatefully heckled Judge Kyle Duncan, a Trump-appointed federal circuit judge.

In Cruz’s eyes, this incident is an insidious form of fascism and silencing of opposing voices, and qualifies as a violation of the school’s campus disruption policy. He strongly urged that steps be taken against these students who demonstrated such outrageous behavior – hate speech in action – to make sure that such incidents never happen again.

Fox news reports, it’s no secret that Democrats have been trying to undermine the Trump administration since day one. But now, it seems they’ve gone too far. Recently, a group of Stanford students heckled a judge appointed by President Trump, prompting Texas Senator Ted Cruz to call for action from the university.

The incident in question occurred when a group of students at Stanford Law School shouted down and disrupted a speech given by Judge Kyle Duncan , who was appointed by President Trump in 2019. The students were reportedly protesting her views on abortion rights and LGBTQ+ issues.

In response, Senator Cruz sent a letter to the president of Stanford University and dean of the law school demanding answers and accountability for what he called “an outrageous display of intolerance.” He also called for the dismissal of Stanford’s associate dean of diversity, equity, and inclusion for her role in allowing this incident to occur.

Unfortunately, instead of taking decisive action against these students, Stanford chose to do nothing. Instead they issued an apology to Judge Duncanm, and decided to not address the students who got out of hand! This is simply unacceptable behavior from an institution that prides itself on promoting diversity and inclusion. It sends a message that it’s okay to harass people with different political views – something we should all be strongly opposed to.

What makes this incident even more concerning is that it appears as though some faculty members may have encouraged or even participated in this protest against Judge Duncan. If true, this would be an egregious violation of academic freedom and would set a dangerous precedent for future protests at universities across the country.

At the end of the day, we must all stand up against intolerance and hatred – regardless of our political beliefs or affiliations. We must demand that institutions like Stanford take decisive action when their students engage in such behavior – not apologize or turn a blind eye as they did here. Anything less than that is simply unacceptable.
