Joe Biden’s Democratic rivals are gaining steam in the latest poll.
The latest poll by Change Research shows that although President Joe Biden holds a commanding lead of 65% of respondents, his Democratic rivals, bestselling author Marianne Williamson and environmental lawyer Robert Kennedy Jr., have both nabbed 11% support, with another 11% unsure. This development is significant due to Biden’s long-held considerable lead over his primary rivals, averaging a 45 percentage point edge over them in the latest Real Clear Politics polling aggregate. Both Williamson and Kennedy have voiced their dissatisfaction over the lack of primary debates as they look for ways to gain traction.
Biden seems to have an edge over his top GOP foes, as well. In hypothetical matchups against former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Biden beats them both, with 47% to 43% and 47% to 44%, respectively. While that’s great news for Biden, we cannot ignore the fact that his approval rating sits at 42% favorable to 56% who disapprove. The poll surveyed 1,208 people from April 28 to May 2 with a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
Despite Biden’s strong position in the polls, the results show that both his rivals have made significant gains, proving that anything is possible in politics. The recent shifts and changes in the political landscape highlight the critical importance of paying close attention to every development in the race for the White House.
