Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan has sparked outrage by condemning the Laken Riley Act – lifesaving legislation designed to protect Americans from dangerous criminals – as nothing more than a "green light" for President Trump to "terrorize our communities."
The stunning comments come as Flanagan's own state faces multiple federal investigations into massive fraud schemes involving Somali migrants who allegedly bilked taxpayers out of millions in fraudulent benefits. Talk about misplaced priorities.
The Laken Riley Act requires the detention of illegal immigrants charged with theft-related crimes – common-sense legislation named after a young Georgia nursing student who was brutally murdered by an illegal alien who should never have been in our country. But apparently, protecting innocent Americans like Laken Riley constitutes "terrorism" in the warped worldview of Minnesota's Democratic leadership.
Democrats Choose Criminals Over Citizens
Social media erupted in response to Flanagan's tone-deaf remarks. "Democrats once again proving they are for criminals before citizens," wrote one Twitter user. "Minnesota Lt. Gov Flanagan denounces the Laken Riley Act as a tool to demoralize the communities. Proving the Democrats are not supporting safety and prosperity of Americans."
"Every prominent Minnesota Democratic leader: Tim Walz, Jacob Frey, Tina Smith, Ilhan Omar, Tikki Brown, Keith Ellison, Amy Klobuchar, Peggy Flanagan was complicit in the massive fraud scheme. The state's entire power structure enabled it. Without exception."
This perfectly captures the hypocrisy at play here. While Flanagan clutches her pearls over enforcing immigration law, her administration has overseen one of the largest taxpayer fraud scandals in recent memory.
Minnesota has become ground zero for immigration-related fraud, with federal investigators uncovering elaborate schemes that have cost hardworking Americans millions. Yet instead of addressing these real problems plaguing her state, Flanagan chooses to attack President Trump for actually enforcing the law.
The Laken Riley Act represents exactly the kind of common-sense reform Americans voted for in November. It's time our leaders start putting American citizens first – something Minnesota's radical Democrats seem incapable of doing.
