Just as President Trump's mass deportation operation kicks into high gear, a radical Portland City Councilor is making excuses for attacks on federal Border Patrol agents trying to do their jobs.
Candace Avalos, a Portland City Councilor, appeared on CNN's "The Story Is" Thursday and was asked directly whether it's problematic that Border Patrol agents were attacked while going after gang members in her city. Instead of condemning the violence against federal agents, Avalos gave a weaselly response about how agents "do not need to shoot first and ask questions later."
This is exactly the kind of sanctuary city nonsense that Americans voted to END in November. While Trump's CBP agents are risking their lives to remove dangerous gang members from American streets, Portland's radical politicians are more worried about protecting criminals than supporting law enforcement.
"Portland City Councilor on if It's a Problem if CBP Agents Were Attacked: 'Do Not Need to Shoot First and Ask Questions Later'"
Social media users were quick to call out this disgraceful response, with @Trump_Force1 sharing the story and highlighting Avalos' outrageous comments that essentially give a green light to more attacks on federal agents.
Let's be crystal clear: Border Patrol agents have every right to defend themselves when radical leftists and gang sympathizers attack them. These brave men and women are carrying out the will of the American people, who overwhelmingly support Trump's deportation agenda.
Portland has been a disaster zone of leftist policies for years - from Antifa riots to homeless encampments to now protecting criminal gangs over federal law enforcement. This is what happens when Democrats run cities into the ground with their "defund the police" mentality.
President Trump promised mass deportations, and he's delivering. If Portland's radical councilors don't like it, they can take it up with the 77 million Americans who voted for border security and the rule of law.
How many more attacks on federal agents will Portland's leadership excuse before they start putting Americans first?
