The mainstream media machine cranked up the outrage factory the moment shots were fired in Portland. Democrats rushed to microphones to condemn federal agents. Oregon's governor blamed President Trump. And every single word of their narrative just collapsed under the weight of actual facts.
The Department of Homeland Security has now confirmed what really happened during the Border Patrol shooting that sent the left into hysterics—and it destroys everything they told you.
The Facts They Didn't Want You to Know
According to DHS, Border Patrol agents attempted to stop a vehicle during a targeted enforcement operation. They identified themselves clearly. The driver refused to stop. Instead, he attempted to run over a federal agent with his vehicle.
In law enforcement terms, that's a lethal force scenario. Period. The agent fired a defensive shot to protect his own life. The driver and passenger fled the scene and later called 911 themselves for help.
But here's where it gets even more damning for the left's narrative.
Both suspects are Venezuelan nationals. The driver, Luis David Nico Moncada, is a criminal illegal alien and suspected member of the notorious Tren de Aragua gang. He entered the country illegally in 2022 and was released into the United States by the Biden administration. Since then, he's been arrested for DUI and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He had a final order of removal—yet was still walking free on American streets.
The passenger, Yorlenis Betsy Beth Zambrano Contreras, is also a Venezuelan criminal alien associated with Tren de Aragua. She illegally crossed near El Paso in 2023 and was—you guessed it—released by Biden's DHS. According to authorities, she played an active role in a Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and was connected to a prior shooting in Portland.
Democrats Condemned First, Asked Questions Never
Before a single one of these facts emerged, Oregon Governor Tina Kotek was already at the podium calling it "unnecessary violence instigated by Trump's reckless agenda." Not one word about the federal agent who nearly became a hood ornament.
CNN gave airtime to a Portland City Council member who lectured viewers that "you do not need to shoot first and ask questions later"—as if the agent should have politely asked the vehicle bearing down on him to reconsider.
Oregon State Representative Andrea Valderrama called the shooting "excessive," then admitted she didn't actually know what happened. Condemn first. Learn later. Correct never. That's the playbook.
The George Floyd Playbook Returns
Patriots, we've seen this movie before. It's the same script they ran in 2020. Manufacture outrage before facts arrive. Frame enforcement as brutality. Create a martyr. Burn cities.
"Say Her Name" is already becoming the new rallying cry. Portland Mayor Keith Wilson demanded ICE halt all operations in the city until a "full investigation" is completed—essentially demanding that gang members get a free pass while bureaucrats shuffle papers.
Meanwhile, Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling cut through the noise with a dose of reality: if you box in law enforcement with vehicles, it's reasonable for them to believe they're being ambushed.
Your City Could Be Next
Portland isn't an isolated incident. It's a test case. The same forces that created autonomous zones in Minneapolis are waiting for the next opportunity to weaponize a shooting—facts be damned.
This is exactly why President Trump's border enforcement agenda matters. These weren't innocent victims. They were violent gang members who should never have been in this country, released by an administration that prioritized open borders over American safety.
The media owes the American people—and that Border Patrol agent—an apology. Don't hold your breath waiting for one.
How many more Americans have to be endangered by criminal aliens before Democrats admit their open-border policies are a catastrophic failure?
