Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan showed her true colors Wednesday when she grotesquely dismissed the horrors of forced abortions as simply "part of history" while defending dangerous mail-order abortion drugs during a Senate Health Committee hearing.
The New Hampshire Democrat accused Republican senators of "gaslighting" Americans about the very real dangers of mifepristone being shipped through the mail – apparently caring more about protecting Big Abortion's profits than women's safety.
But Hassan's most shocking moment came when she casually brushed off violence against pregnant women as a "longstanding part of human history," as if centuries of abuse somehow justifies making it easier for predators to force abortions on their victims today.
GOP Senators Expose the Truth About Mail-Order Abortion Dangers
Republican committee members have been sounding the alarm about how easy access to abortion pills through the mail creates a perfect storm for abusers. Violent partners, human traffickers, and sexual predators can now force these drugs on women without any medical oversight or protection.
Yet Hassan and her fellow Democrats seem perfectly fine with this scenario. Why? Because protecting their radical abortion agenda matters more than protecting vulnerable women from coercion and violence.
"This is exactly the kind of callous disregard for women's safety we've come to expect from the radical left," one GOP aide told reporters after the hearing.
Think about what Hassan is really saying here: because violence has existed throughout history, we should just accept it and even make it easier for abusers to harm women. It's a sick, twisted logic that reveals how far the Democratic Party has fallen.
Trump Administration Must Act
President Trump's health officials need to immediately review the FDA's reckless approval of mail-order mifepristone. No woman should be forced to take abortion drugs by an abusive partner who can simply order them online like a pizza.
Hassan's disgusting comments prove that Democrats will say anything – even dismiss violence against women – to protect their extremist abortion agenda. American women deserve so much better than senators who treat forced abortions as acceptable collateral damage.
How can any self-respecting woman vote for a party that considers violence against pregnant mothers just "part of history"?
