In a jaw-dropping display of callousness that would make even hardcore liberals cringe, Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire showed her true colors Wednesday when she essentially shrugged off forced abortions as just another unfortunate chapter in the human story.
During a Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee hearing, Hassan had the audacity to accuse Republican senators of "gaslighting" Americans about the very real dangers of mail-order mifepristone – the abortion pill that's been linked to serious complications and even death. But her most disturbing moment came when she casually dismissed violence against pregnant women as a "longstanding part of human history."
Let that sink in, folks. A sitting U.S. Senator just told American women that forced abortions are basically inevitable, so we might as well make it easier for abusers to get their hands on dangerous drugs that can be used to harm them.
The Left's Twisted Logic on Full Display
This is the same twisted logic that has infected the Democrat Party from top to bottom. Instead of protecting vulnerable women from predators who might force them to take abortion pills, Hassan and her radical colleagues want to make these drugs as accessible as ordering a pizza.
"Violence against pregnant women is a longstanding part of human history," Hassan callously stated, as if this somehow justifies making abortion pills more readily available through the mail.
Republican senators were rightfully outraged by Hassan's dismissive attitude toward women who have been victimized. They're fighting to ensure proper medical oversight and prevent these dangerous drugs from falling into the wrong hands – you know, actually protecting women instead of just paying lip service to "women's rights."
This is what happens when ideology trumps compassion in the Democrat Party. Hassan's comments reveal the ugly truth: liberals care more about their abortion agenda than they do about protecting real women from real harm.
How many more women will suffer because Democrats like Hassan refuse to acknowledge the serious risks of mail-order abortion drugs? And why should we trust a party that treats violence against women as just another historical footnote?
