Just weeks into President Trump's second term, the Washington swamp is already showing its true colors. The Senate just cleared a procedural hurdle for a bloated $174 billion spending package that funds multiple federal agencies - the same bureaucratic apparatus that spent four years weaponizing government against conservatives.
The three-bill package funds commerce, justice, energy and interior agencies through September, essentially throwing taxpayer money at the very departments that need to be gutted, not funded. This comes as Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is working overtime to identify waste and corruption throughout the federal bureaucracy.
Patriots should be asking: Why are we rushing to fund the Justice Department that prosecuted January 6th prisoners? Why are we bankrolling the same agencies that pushed climate change propaganda and woke policies under the Biden regime?
"This is exactly the kind of establishment thinking that President Trump was elected to end. We don't need bigger government - we need better government," said one conservative policy analyst.
The timing couldn't be more suspicious. Just as Trump and his America First cabinet are preparing to drain the swamp, suddenly there's an urgent need to fund these agencies to prevent a "shutdown." But maybe a shutdown is exactly what these bloated bureaucracies need.
While Democrats celebrate this spending victory, working Americans are struggling with inflation and higher costs of living. Every dollar wasted on unnecessary federal programs is a dollar taken from hardworking families trying to make ends meet.
The Real Question
Congress had months to prepare a lean, efficient budget that reflects conservative values. Instead, they're forcing through another massive spending bill that looks suspiciously like business as usual in the swamp.
President Trump promised to make government work for the people again, not the other way around. It's time for Republicans in Congress to remember who put them in office and start acting like conservatives instead of swamp creatures protecting their pet projects.
