The walls are closing in on sanctuary city defenders, and even CNN's own Paul Begala is waving the white flag. In a shocking moment of honesty Thursday on 'The Lead,' the longtime Democratic operative admitted what conservatives have been saying all along: cities should be required to help enforce immigration law.

'We should have one federal immigration law, and cities should be obligated to help enforce it,' Begala declared during a discussion about Minneapolis's sanctuary city status with host Jake Tapper.

Let that sink in, Patriots. This is the same network that spent years attacking President Trump's immigration enforcement as 'racist' and 'inhumane.' Now their own commentator is essentially endorsing the Trump administration's position that sanctuary cities are unconstitutional obstacles to public safety.

The Sanctuary City House of Cards Collapses

Begala's admission comes as President Trump's mass deportation operation gains momentum in his second term. The administration has made it crystal clear that sanctuary jurisdictions will face federal consequences for harboring illegal aliens, and apparently even liberal talking heads can read the writing on the wall.

'We should have one federal immigration law, and cities should be obligated to help enforce it.'

This isn't just political posturing—it's a recognition that the American people have spoken decisively on immigration. Trump's landslide victory in 2024 was built on promises to secure the border and remove criminal aliens, regardless of which Democrat-run cities try to shield them.

The timing couldn't be more perfect. As Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and the Trump team prepare to dismantle the sanctuary city network that enabled countless crimes against American citizens, even CNN's resident Democrats are jumping ship.

What's next? Will they admit Trump was right about the border wall too? At this rate, CNN might accidentally start doing real journalism again. Don't count on it, but stranger things have happened when the truth becomes impossible to ignore.

Wow, never thought I'd see the day when CNN would say something like this.

My city has been a sanctuary city for years and the problems have only gotten worse. Crime is up, resources are stretched thin, and honest taxpayers are footing the bill.

Same here. Our budget can't handle the additional strain on services.

Living in Arizona, I see the effects of poor border enforcement daily. Will this actually lead to real cooperation from blue cities though?

About time someone on the left admits the obvious! Cities can't pick and choose which federal laws to follow.

Begala saying this is huge. When even CNN commentators are breaking ranks, you know the tide is turning on this issue.

The federal government has constitutional authority over immigration. Local governments don't get to override that just because they disagree politically.

Finally! Even the liberal media is starting to admit what we've known all along - immigration laws need to be enforced.

It's about time they came around to common sense!
