California's far-left Governor Gavin Newsom just pulled one of the dirtiest political tricks we've seen, deliberately scheduling the special election to replace deceased Republican Rep. Doug LaMalfa as late as legally possible in a transparent attempt to sabotage Speaker Mike Johnson's razor-thin House majority.
With Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's recent retirement from Georgia's 14th District, Speaker Johnson was already working with the smallest Republican majority in decades. Now, after LaMalfa's unexpected death, that GOP majority has shrunk to practically nothing – and Newsom knows exactly what he's doing.
Rather than expedite the special election process to ensure California's District 1 voters have proper representation during these crucial early months of President Trump's second term, Newsom chose the latest possible date allowed under state law. This means Republicans will be operating with an even weaker position as Trump pushes his America First agenda through Congress.
Political Sabotage, Plain and Simple
Let's call this what it is: deliberate political sabotage designed to help Democrats obstruct Trump's mandate from the American people. Newsom isn't thinking about the voters of District 1 who deserve representation – he's thinking about how to make life harder for Speaker Johnson and President Trump.
This is the same Gavin Newsom who has turned California into a lawless sanctuary state overrun with illegal immigrants, crime, and homelessness. The same governor who has driven businesses and families out of the Golden State with his radical progressive policies. Now he's trying to export his destructive influence to the national stage.
District 1 is a solidly red district that will almost certainly elect another Republican, but Newsom's delay tactic means Speaker Johnson will have to navigate critical votes on Trump's priorities – including border security, mass deportations, and government efficiency measures – with an artificially weakened majority.
Patriots across America need to see this for what it is: another example of how Democrats will use every dirty trick in the book to undermine the will of the people. The question is, will Speaker Johnson and House Republicans find ways to outmaneuver these obvious sabotage attempts?
