New Jersey's newly sworn-in Governor Mikie Sherrill (D) couldn't resist turning what should have been a unifying inaugural address into a Trump-bashing festival, proving once again that Democrats are more interested in political theater than actually governing.
Rather than focusing on the challenges facing Garden State residents – from crushing taxes to failing infrastructure – Sherrill made President Trump the centerpiece of her inaugural remarks, essentially declaring war on the 47th President from day one.
This is the new playbook, folks. Democrat governors positioning themselves as the "resistance" to Trump's America First agenda, even as millions of Americans voted decisively for that very agenda just over a year ago.
Jersey's New Obstructionist-in-Chief
Sherrill's combative tone signals exactly what we can expect from blue state governors during Trump's second term: endless legal challenges, federal non-cooperation, and grandstanding at every opportunity. Instead of working with the administration to secure the border, cut regulations, and boost American energy production, she's already telegraphing four years of obstruction.
What's particularly galling is that New Jersey residents are fleeing the state in droves due to high taxes, crime, and failing schools. Yet their new governor's top priority isn't fixing these problems – it's positioning herself as Trump's chief antagonist on the East Coast.
"This is what happens when Trump Derangement Syndrome meets political ambition. New Jersey deserves better than a governor who's more focused on cable news appearances than constituent services."
The irony is rich: Sherrill took her oath on the New Jersey Constitution while simultaneously signaling she'll undermine the federal Constitution and the will of the American people who elected Trump to drain the swamp and restore sanity to government.
Patriots Deserve Better
New Jersey families struggling with Biden-era inflation and failed Democrat policies needed to hear about tax relief, crime reduction, and economic opportunity. Instead, they got another unhinged anti-Trump tirade from their new governor.
This is why Trump's mandate is so crucial – Americans are tired of politicians who put partisan politics above the people they serve. How long will Jersey residents tolerate a governor who's already shown her real priorities?
