The Trump administration has made election integrity a cornerstone priority, and rightfully so. Americans deserve to know that their votes count and that dead people, non-citizens, and folks who moved to Florida years ago aren't still casting ballots in Georgia elections.
Same Old Excuses, Same Old Obstruction
But rather than embrace this opportunity to restore confidence in Georgia's elections, Raffensperger is doubling down on his obstruction. He's refusing to cooperate with federal efforts to verify voter eligibility and clean up the bloated registration databases that have plagued the state for years.
This isn't about partisan politics – this is about basic election security that every American should support. Why would any honest election official oppose efforts to remove ineligible voters from the rolls? What exactly is Raffensperger trying to hide?
"The people of Georgia deserve better than a Secretary of State who puts political cover ahead of election integrity," said one Georgia GOP source familiar with the situation.
The irony is rich. Raffensperger spent years claiming he was the guardian of Georgia's election integrity, but when given the chance to actually prove it by working with the Justice Department, he's nowhere to be found.
