Virginia's new Democrat governor has just handed criminal illegal aliens a get-out-of-jail-free card. In a stunning betrayal of Virginia families, Abigail Spanberger officially ended all cooperation agreements between state law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Wednesday, effectively transforming the Old Dominion into a sanctuary state.

The move reverses common-sense policies implemented by Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin that allowed Virginia law enforcement to work hand-in-hand with federal immigration authorities to remove dangerous criminals from our communities. Now, thanks to Spanberger's radical left agenda, those same criminals will be released back onto Virginia streets.

Spanberger's office proudly announced the decision, with her official account posting on social media: "Gov. Abigail Spanberger is ending 287 agreements between state law enforcement agencies and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Virginia." The celebratory tone says everything you need to know about Democrats' priorities.

Local media rushed to spin the decision as protecting "community trust," with WUSA9 claiming Spanberger was "emphasizing state sovereignty." Since when do Democrats care about state sovereignty? Only when it helps them obstruct President Trump's mass deportation agenda, apparently.

"On Wednesday, Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed an executive direction ending an agreement with the federal government to deputize state police in enforcing immigration laws," reported one journalist, highlighting just how quickly Spanberger moved to sabotage immigration enforcement.

This is exactly what Virginia voters should have expected when they elected a Democrat who spent years in Congress opposing every meaningful border security measure. Spanberger is clearly taking her marching orders from the same radical left playbook that turned Minnesota into a crime-ridden sanctuary state under Tim Walz.

While President Trump works tirelessly to secure our borders and remove criminal aliens, Democrats like Spanberger are actively working against him—and against the safety of their own constituents. Virginia families deserve better than a governor who puts illegal immigrants before their security.

How many Virginians will suffer because their governor chose politics over public safety?

We moved here from California to escape exactly this kind of lunacy. Guess we need to keep looking further south.

I served 20 years to protect our borders and this is what we get. My son's a police officer in Fairfax and says morale is at an all-time low with policies like this.

The men and women in uniform are being completely undermined by these radical policies.

So we're supposed to foot the bill for this while our own citizens struggle? How does this make any sense?

This is exactly what we feared would happen. Virginia voters need to wake up and see what's happening to our once-great Commonwealth!

Does anyone know if there's a way to challenge this at the state level? There has to be some legal recourse for citizens who oppose this.

I've been looking into this too. Maybe through the state legislature when they're back in session?

What about the legal immigrants who followed the rules and waited their turn? This is a slap in the face to everyone who came here the right way.
