The Maryland Democrat's bizarre assertion came during an appearance on "The Arena," where he attempted to attack common-sense legislation designed to ensure only American citizens can vote in American elections. Apparently, requiring proof of citizenship is now somehow an assault on women's suffrage in Raskin's twisted worldview.
The SAVE Act, which has been championed by Republicans and supported by President Trump, simply requires proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote – a basic safeguard that should be common sense in any functioning democracy. How exactly this threatens women's constitutional right to vote remains a mystery that only Raskin seems to understand.
