Two of the Democratic Party's top leaders just got caught with their pants down, desperately trying to explain why they're fighting against voter identification requirements that even their own base supports by massive margins.
Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) recently appeared on ABC and CNN respectively, squirming like fish out of water as they attempted to justify their opposition to basic election security measures that polling shows are favored by a broad majority of Americans – including Democrats.
While President Trump's administration continues pushing for nationwide voter ID requirements as part of his election integrity agenda, these Democratic dinosaurs are still clinging to the same tired talking points that voters rejected in 2024.
The Numbers Don't Lie
Here's what makes this even more embarrassing for Schiff and Jeffries: polling consistently shows that voter ID requirements enjoy support from roughly 80% of Americans, including significant majorities of Democratic voters. Yet these two are out there acting like requiring an ID to vote is somehow voter suppression.
Think about it, folks – you need an ID to buy alcohol, board a plane, open a bank account, or enter most government buildings. But somehow asking people to prove they are who they say they are before casting a ballot is "racist"? Give me a break.
Schiff, who spent years peddling the Russia hoax, and Jeffries, who's made a career out of crying racism at every turn, looked completely out of touch as they tried to defend the indefensible. Their stammering responses only highlighted how weak their position really is.
Trump's Common Sense Approach
Meanwhile, the Trump administration continues advancing real election security reforms that restore Americans' confidence in our democratic process. Voter ID isn't controversial – it's common sense, and it's exactly what the American people voted for in 2024.
The question isn't why Republicans support voter ID – it's why Democrats are so desperate to oppose something their own voters want. What exactly are Schiff and Jeffries trying to hide?
