Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim has inserted herself into the political arena, lecturing President Donald Trump after he made critical comments about her teammate Hunter Hess during a press conference Monday in Milan.
When asked about Trump's remarks regarding American skier Hess, Kim virtue-signaled her way through a response that sounded more like a Democrat talking point than an athlete focused on representing America at the Olympics.
"I'm so happy that so many Olympians are not hesitant to speak out for what they believe in," Kim said, apparently encouraging more political grandstanding from athletes who should be concentrating on winning medals for their country.
"I want to see more love," Kim added, delivering the kind of empty platitude that's become standard fare from celebrity athletes who think their sports success qualifies them as political commentators.
This is exactly the kind of woke posturing that has infected American sports for years. Instead of staying focused on athletic excellence and proudly representing the United States, Kim chose to take a swipe at the President who's working tirelessly to put America First.
Athletes Should Focus on Winning, Not Politics
Here's what's really frustrating, Patriots: We send these athletes to represent our nation on the world stage, and instead of unity and national pride, we get political lectures from snowboarders who apparently think they know better than the Commander-in-Chief.
President Trump has every right to call out underperforming athletes, especially when American taxpayers are footing the bill for Olympic programs. The President's job is to demand excellence from everyone representing America – and that includes Olympic athletes.
While Kim preaches about "love," President Trump is delivering results: securing our border, bringing back American energy dominance, and restoring respect for our nation worldwide.
Maybe Kim should spend less time giving political commentary and more time ensuring she brings home gold for the country that gave her the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Just a thought.
