UNHINGED: Democrat COMPARES Islamic Sharia Law to Conservative Project 2025 at Hearing

A Tennessee Democrat made headlines for all the wrong reasons Tuesday when he compared Islamic sharia law to the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 during a House Judiciary Committee hearing focused on keeping America free from religious extremism.

Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN) stunned attendees at the Republican-led "Sharia-Free America" hearing by suggesting that conservative policy proposals were somehow equivalent to the Islamic legal code that calls for stoning adulterers, throwing homosexuals off buildings, and treating women as second-class citizens.

The comparison drew audible laughter from those present, who couldn't believe a sitting congressman would make such an outrageous statement. But this is what passes for serious discourse among today's radical Democrats - equating American conservative values with oppressive religious extremism.

The Left's Desperate Deflection Tactics

Cohen's ridiculous comparison exposes the left's complete inability to address the real issue at hand. Instead of engaging in a serious discussion about protecting American communities from foreign legal systems that contradict our Constitution, Democrats resort to cheap political shots against conservatives.

Project 2025, developed by the Heritage Foundation, is a policy blueprint focused on limited government, constitutional rights, and traditional American values. Comparing it to a legal system that literally oppresses women and minorities shows just how unhinged the left has become in their Trump Derangement Syndrome.

"That sounds like Project 2025," Cohen reportedly said, apparently unable to distinguish between conservative governance and medieval religious law.

This isn't just political theater - it's a dangerous deflection from a real threat. While Republicans work to protect American communities from incompatible foreign legal systems, Democrats are more interested in scoring cheap political points.

Republicans Lead on Real Issues

The hearing, convened by House Republicans, addresses legitimate concerns about efforts to impose sharia law in American communities - something that has already happened in parts of Europe with disastrous results.

Patriots should ask themselves: Why are Democrats so eager to defend sharia law while attacking conservative Americans? The answer reveals everything you need to know about their priorities.

This kind of rhetoric is dangerous and divisive. As someone who teaches civics, I see how this inflammatory language confuses students about what conservative policies actually entail.

Absolutely unhinged is right! Comparing a conservative policy proposal to literal religious law that oppresses women is beyond the pale. These Democrats have completely lost touch with reality.

They can't debate the actual merits of conservative policies so they resort to fear mongering and false equivalencies.

I actually read through Project 2025 after all the hysteria. It's basically just standard conservative policy positions we've had for decades. The fear mongering is ridiculous.

The desperation is showing. When you have to make these kind of wild comparisons, you've already lost the argument.

Exactly! It just shows how weak their position really is when they can't engage with the actual policy proposals.

Wow, just wow. 🤦‍♂️

Can someone explain to me how wanting smaller government and traditional values equals religious authoritarianism? I must have missed that connection.

This is exactly why I can't take Democrats seriously anymore. Project 2025 wants to restore constitutional governance - how is that remotely comparable to Sharia law?
