In a stunning display of socialist solidarity, Venezuela's interim President Delcy Rodríguez defended imprisoned dictator Nicolás Maduro on Wednesday, calling him "innocent" and the "legitimate president" despite his capture by American special forces on drug trafficking charges.
Maduro, who terrorized the Venezuelan people for years while turning their oil-rich nation into a socialist hellscape, is currently sitting in a federal prison in New York awaiting trial. Yet his handpicked successor refuses to acknowledge the obvious – that Venezuela is finally free from his narco-terrorist regime.
"I can tell you that Nicolás Maduro remains the legitimate president," Rodríguez declared, apparently oblivious to the fact that legitimate presidents don't get arrested by U.S. special forces for running drug cartels.
Socialist Denial Runs Deep
This isn't surprising, folks. Rodríguez was Maduro's Vice President and a key player in the corrupt socialist machine that destroyed Venezuela. Of course she's going to defend her former boss – admitting his guilt would mean admitting her own complicity in the regime's crimes.
While millions of Venezuelans fled their homeland to escape the poverty and oppression caused by Maduro's socialist policies, his cronies like Rodríguez lived in luxury. Now she expects us to believe the man arrested on drug charges is somehow innocent?
"The Trump administration's decisive action to capture this narco-dictator sent a clear message to socialist thugs worldwide – America won't tolerate their criminal regimes."
President Trump's bold move to take down Maduro represents exactly the kind of America First leadership our allies needed. While the Biden administration coddled dictators and weakened American influence, Trump 47 is already cleaning up the mess in our own backyard.
The question now is whether the Venezuelan people will finally get the freedom they deserve, or if another socialist puppet will continue Maduro's failed policies. One thing's certain – with Trump back in charge, America won't be fooled by Rodriguez's pathetic attempt to legitimize a captured drug lord.
