Just when you thought California politics couldn't get any more bizarre, Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell has decided to torture Golden State voters with something even worse than his failed presidential campaign: his erotic poetry.
The congressman from California's 14th district, who infamously carried on a relationship with suspected Chinese spy Fang Fang, is now running for governor and apparently thinks his steamy verse will win over voters. Spoiler alert: it won't.
This is the same Eric Swalwell who spent years pushing the Russia hoax, got kicked off the House Intelligence Committee for his compromising foreign entanglements, and now wants to run the nation's most populous state. But instead of focusing on California's massive homeless crisis, skyrocketing crime rates, or exodus of businesses fleeing Democrat policies, Swalwell is apparently spending his time crafting romantic literature.
From Spy Scandals to Poetry Slams
Californians are already dealing with Governor Newsom's failed leadership, rolling blackouts, and some of the highest taxes in the nation. The last thing they need is a governor whose claim to fame includes both national security breaches and questionable artistic endeavors.
"This is what passes for serious leadership in today's Democrat Party," one Republican strategist told reporters. "While hardworking Californians struggle with Democrat-created problems, Swalwell is writing love poems."
The timing couldn't be worse for Swalwell's gubernatorial ambitions. With President Trump's second term focused on restoring American strength and common sense governance, voters are increasingly rejecting the kind of unserious leadership that Swalwell represents.
California Republicans are already having a field day with this revelation, and who can blame them? Between Swalwell's spy scandal, his erotic poetry hobby, and his record of putting partisan politics over public service, he's practically writing attack ads against himself.
Patriots across California deserve better than another radical Democrat with questionable judgment and even more questionable hobbies. Will voters finally say enough is enough to the circus that California Democrat politics has become?
