In a laughably desperate attempt to stay relevant, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) is already crying about "vote suppression" just weeks into President Trump's second term - conveniently ignoring the fact that Republicans just delivered a crushing defeat to Democrats nationwide.
Speaking on MSNBC's failing "All In" show Wednesday night, Van Hollen claimed that "one thing that definitely motivates people to go out and vote is when they know that people like Donald Trump are trying to stop them."
Really, Senator? Because last time we checked, Trump and the entire MAGA movement just steamrolled Democrats from coast to coast in November. If Trump is so bad at "suppressing votes," how exactly did Republicans end up controlling Washington?
The Same Tired Playbook
This is the same worn-out Democrat playbook we've seen for years - whenever they lose elections, it's never because their policies are unpopular disasters. It's always because of some imaginary "voter suppression" conspiracy.
"The American people have already spoken loud and clear - they want Trump's America First agenda, not the Democrats' radical leftist policies that nearly destroyed our country," said one GOP strategist.
Van Hollen's comments are particularly rich coming from the party that spent four years trying to remove a duly elected president, pushed unconstitutional mail-in voting schemes during COVID, and fought basic election integrity measures like voter ID at every turn.
What Van Hollen really means by "vote suppression" is requiring people to prove they're eligible to vote - something that's common sense to every patriotic American but apparently offensive to Democrats who benefit from election chaos.
Projection and Desperation
The truth is, Democrats are panicking because they know their time is up. President Trump is delivering on his promises to secure our borders, restore American energy dominance, and clean house in the federal bureaucracy - and the American people are loving every minute of it.
So instead of admitting their failures and changing course, Democrats like Van Hollen are doubling down on the same divisive rhetoric that got them crushed in 2024. Good luck with that strategy in 2026, Senator.
