The mainstream media's Trump Derangement Syndrome reached peak embarrassment Wednesday when CBS News reporter Ed O'Keefe got absolutely destroyed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt – and even his own colleagues in the press corps couldn't help but laugh at him.
O'Keefe walked into a buzzsaw when he challenged President Trump's recent social media post honoring civil rights leader Jesse Jackson, in which Trump noted he has been "falsely called racist." The CBS reporter smugly demanded Leavitt provide examples of Trump being falsely labeled a racist, apparently thinking he had set some kind of trap.
Big mistake.
Leavitt didn't just answer – she demolished O'Keefe with a masterclass in facts that left the reporter looking like he'd never covered politics before. The Press Secretary rattled off numerous examples of the media's bogus racism claims against Trump, including the debunked "very fine people" hoax that even liberal fact-checkers have been forced to admit was taken out of context.
"The fact that you're even asking this question shows how disconnected the mainstream media is from reality," Leavitt fired back, as audible chuckling could be heard from other reporters in the briefing room.
The laughter from O'Keefe's own colleagues was perhaps the most telling moment – a rare instance where even the legacy media couldn't pretend one of their own wasn't making a complete fool of himself.
This is what Trump Derangement Syndrome looks like, folks. After years of pushing false narratives about the President, these reporters have become so invested in their lies that they can't even recognize basic facts anymore. O'Keefe walked into that briefing room thinking he was going to score points against Trump, and instead became a laughingstock.
It's refreshing to have a Press Secretary who doesn't back down from these gotcha games. Leavitt showed exactly why Trump chose her for this role – she's not intimidated by hostile reporters and she comes armed with facts.
