FORGOTTEN VIRTUE: Why Lent is America's Most RADICAL Act of Resistance

While America spirals deeper into a cesspool of self-absorption and hedonistic excess, there's one practice that cuts through the cultural rot like a sword: Lent. And that's exactly why the radical left and their secular allies hate it so much.

We're living in the most narcissistic era in human history. Social media feeds our ego addiction 24/7. Corporate America profits off our gluttony and greed. The Biden regime spent four years telling Americans they deserved everything handed to them on a silver platter. Self-denial? That's practically hate speech in today's woke world.

But here's what the cultural Marxists don't want you to understand: Lent represents everything they're trying to destroy about traditional America. It's rooted in Christianity – the faith our Founding Fathers used as the bedrock of this republic. It demands personal responsibility, not government handouts. It calls for sacrifice, not participation trophies.

The War on Christian Values

Think about it, patriots. When was the last time you saw Hollywood celebrities promoting fasting and prayer? When did Big Tech algorithms push content about spiritual discipline instead of mindless consumption? The answer is never – because self-denial threatens their entire business model.

"Like any virtue, self-denial atrophies if it is not practiced," as The Blaze correctly points out. And that's exactly what's happened to America's moral backbone.

President Trump's return to the White House represents a chance to restore our Christian heritage, but it starts with individual Americans rediscovering these forgotten virtues. While the deep state spent decades trying to erase God from public life, millions of faithful Americans kept the flame burning.

The establishment wants you addicted – to their products, their propaganda, their government programs. Lent teaches the opposite: that true freedom comes through voluntary sacrifice and spiritual discipline.

So this Lenten season, consider this: What could be more rebellious in 2026 than actually practicing what our ancestors knew built strong character and a strong nation? The left calls it "oppressive tradition." Real Americans call it the path back to greatness.

FINALLY someone gets it! In a culture that screams 'instant gratification,' choosing to fast and sacrifice during Lent is the most counter-cultural thing we can do. My family has been doing a complete digital fast during Lent for three years now - no social media, minimal TV - and it's transformed how we connect with each other and God.

Love this! We do something similar but allow educational content for the kids. The silence and intentionality is so powerful.

This article nails why our secular society is so uncomfortable with Lent - it requires actual discipline and delayed gratification, virtues that are completely foreign to the participation trophy generation.

Absolutely brilliant piece! The comparison to our consumerist culture really hit home - we've forgotten that saying 'no' to ourselves builds character in ways that saying 'yes' never can.

Question for other readers: How do you help your children understand the deeper meaning of Lenten sacrifice beyond just 'giving up candy'? Looking for practical ways to make it meaningful for ages 8-14.

We tie each sacrifice to a specific prayer intention and do family discussions about early Christian martyrs. Makes it less about rules and more about purpose.
