In what may go down as the most devastating self-own in modern political history, Congressional Democrats who boycotted President Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday night watched helplessly as their empty seats were filled with gold medal-winning American heroes.
Dozens of Democrats, including Adam Schiff and Maxine Waters, announced they would skip Trump's address because they couldn't stomach being in the same room as the duly elected President. Waters arrogantly declared Trump "doesn't deserve to be in my presence," while Schiff and Representative Pramila Jayapal joined the petulant exodus.
But Trump didn't waste a second feeling sorry about their absence. Instead, he picked up the phone.
From Empty Chairs to American Champions
Working through Kash Patel, Trump connected directly to the Team USA men's hockey locker room after their championship victory. The President congratulated the players, praised their goalie, and made them an offer they couldn't refuse – a military plane ride from Miami to Washington to attend the State of the Union as his personal guests.
The locker room erupted in excitement. Quinn Hughes told reporters he was thrilled by the invitation, though careful with his words knowing the media firestorm that would follow.
The visual contrast was absolutely devastating. Where elected Democrats should have been fulfilling their oath of office, sat hockey champions, military families, a Pennsylvania waitress saving $5,000 under Trump's no-tax-on-tips policy, and a young couple finally able to afford fertility treatment through TrumpRx.
Even Liberal Media Calls Out Democrats
The boycott backfired so spectacularly that even Stephen A. Smith – hardly a MAGA supporter – went on air to torch his own party's juvenile behavior.
"Where are the adults?" Smith asked. "If you accuse the president of being petulant and petty, then behave the same way, you surrender any claim to moral authority."
Representative James Comer told Maria Bartiromo he was glad Democrats boycotted because "the room gets crowded and less disruption means a better speech."
The empty chairs told the whole story – while Democrats threw tantrums, Trump surrounded himself with American champions and everyday heroes. Patriots, does this look like a party ready to lead, or one that just handed Trump his most powerful campaign visual yet?
