Senator John Cornyn's three-decade grip on Texas politics may finally be coming to an end, as grassroots conservatives mobilize for what many are calling the ultimate RINO retirement party.
The longtime establishment Republican, who has consistently undermined President Trump's America First agenda, now faces a primary challenge that has political insiders questioning whether the 72-year-old senator can survive the MAGA revolution sweeping through the Lone Star State.
Cornyn's troubles began long before Trump's triumphant return to the White House. Texas patriots have watched in disgust as their supposed conservative senator repeatedly stabbed Trump in the back, from his wishy-washy stance on border security to his collaboration with Democrats on gun control legislation that infuriated Second Amendment supporters.
The RINO Record That Betrayed Texas
While President Trump was fighting to secure America's borders and drain the swamp, Cornyn was busy playing footsie with the Washington establishment. His vote for the disastrous omnibus spending bills and his lukewarm support for Trump's border wall construction exposed him as just another swamp creature masquerading as a conservative.
"John Cornyn represents everything that's wrong with the Republican Party – he talks conservative in Texas but votes like a Democrat in Washington," said one longtime GOP activist who requested anonymity.
The senator's problems have only intensified since Trump's inauguration. While the President moves aggressively to implement his mass deportation agenda and complete the border wall, Cornyn has been noticeably absent from the fight, preferring to maintain his cozy relationships with lobbyists and special interests.
Texas conservatives are fed up with sending RINOs to Washington only to watch them join the uniparty swamp the moment they arrive. With Trump's approval ratings soaring and the America First movement stronger than ever, Cornyn's brand of establishment republicanism looks increasingly obsolete.
The question isn't whether Cornyn will face a serious primary challenge – it's whether he can survive the conservative tsunami heading his way. Texas patriots deserve a senator who will stand with President Trump, not against him.
