CONTROL FREAKS: NY Democrats Move to BAN AI Chatbots From Giving Legal and Medical Advice

In yet another power grab by Big Government Democrats, New York state senators allied with progressive lawmaker Zohran Mamdani are moving to ban AI chatbots from answering questions about law, medicine, psychology, and more than a dozen other professions. The proposed legislation would criminalize artificial intelligence programs for "impersonating certain licensed professionals" - because apparently, Democrats think they should control what information Americans can access.

The bill specifically targets any AI program giving "substantive responses," information, or advice in regulated fields. But here's the kicker - users would be allowed to bring civil lawsuits against chatbot providers if they feel misled. It's a trial lawyer's dream and another attack on innovation by the party that claims to support progress.

Social media users are already sounding the alarm about this massive overreach. As @DoubleCheckAI warned on Twitter: "🚨 NEW: New York lawmakers propose banning AI chatbots from acting like lawyers or doctors. If an AI gives you legal advice and you're misled, you could sue the company behind it. The AI regulation era just started."

"Tech companies just lost their free legal advice business model," noted @feedrushmedia, highlighting how this legislation could devastate AI innovation.

This isn't about protecting consumers - it's about protecting the professional class from competition. For decades, Americans have been locked out of basic legal and medical information by gatekeepers who charge premium prices. AI was finally democratizing access to information, and Democrats can't stand it.

Think about it: if you can't afford a $500-per-hour lawyer consultation, why shouldn't you be able to ask an AI basic legal questions? If you need quick medical information at 2 AM, why should government bureaucrats decide you can't access it?

@AhmadRehanKhan summed up the scope of this power grab: "New York lawmakers are considering a major AI regulation bill that would ban chatbots from giving legal, medical, or other professional advice without proper licensing."

This is classic Democrat playbook - create artificial scarcity, protect established interests, and limit individual freedom under the guise of "consumer protection." Meanwhile, President Trump's administration is focused on deregulation and empowering Americans with more choices, not fewer.

Will other states follow New York's lead in crushing AI innovation? Or will common sense prevail?

This is exactly why I left NY for Florida three years ago. The nanny state mentality is out of control - they want to regulate every aspect of our lives.

Welcome to freedom! Best decision you ever made leaving that socialist wasteland.

Government solution to everything: BAN IT! How about letting the free market and personal responsibility work instead of treating adults like children who can't make their own decisions?

I've actually used ChatGPT to help understand legal documents before meeting with my attorney, and it saved me hundreds in consultation fees. Why do Democrats hate working families saving money?

Typical Democrat overreach! They can't stand the idea of people having access to information without going through their approved gatekeepers. What's next, banning Google searches about health symptoms?

Exactly right Mike. As a physician, I see patients all the time who've researched their symptoms online - it actually makes my job easier when they're informed.
