A Pakistani businessman working directly for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has been convicted of plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump, telling FBI agents he was inspired by the failed assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Asif Merchant, who federal prosecutors say came to America at the direction of Iranian operatives, was found guilty Friday on federal charges stemming from his elaborate murder-for-hire scheme targeting American politicians, including then-candidate Trump during the 2024 election.

The stunning revelation shows just how emboldened America's enemies became under the Biden administration's weak foreign policy. While Biden was busy appeasing Tehran and trying to revive the disastrous Iran nuclear deal, the mullahs were literally sending assassins to American soil to eliminate their primary political opponent.

Iran's Terror Network Exposed

According to court documents, Merchant told an FBI undercover agent that he believed Iran "was responsible" for the Butler shooting that nearly claimed Trump's life last summer. Though the FBI found no evidence linking Iran to that specific attack, Merchant made it clear he saw it as a blueprint for his own operation.

Social media users are expressing outrage over the plot. "A Pakistani man accused of plotting with the Iranian government to murder American politicians, including President Trump, was convicted on Friday. Asif Merchant came at the direction of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps," posted @sreeecon, sharing the shocking details.

During testimony, Merchant claimed Iran "blackmailed" him into the assassination scheme, saying he went along with it to protect himself. But prosecutors painted a different picture – of a willing operative carrying out the regime's dirty work on American soil.

"This conviction sends a clear message that we will not tolerate foreign governments attempting to assassinate American leaders on our own soil," a DOJ spokesperson said.

The case highlights the critical importance of Trump's America First foreign policy and his tough stance against Iranian aggression. While the deep state and mainstream media spent years pushing the Russia collusion hoax, the real threat was coming from Tehran – and they nearly succeeded in changing the course of American history.

How many more Iranian operatives are currently on American soil, and what is the Biden legacy administration doing to stop them?

Wait, so this guy was directly inspired by Butler? That's terrifying - it means every attempt emboldens more enemies.

This is exactly why we need to take Iran's threats seriously. They're literally using domestic incidents to inspire international assassination plots against our former president!

Absolutely right. The fact that they admitted Butler inspired this shows how emboldened our enemies have become.

As someone who served overseas, I've seen Iran's handiwork firsthand. They don't mess around when it comes to targeted assassinations.

Iran-backed terrorism on American soil and half the media will probably ignore this story completely.

Thank God for our intelligence agencies catching this one. Makes you wonder how many they don't catch though.

Iran has been getting away with too much for too long. This administration needs to wake up and realize these aren't empty threats - they're actively planning attacks on American soil.

This is what happens when you show weakness on the world stage. Our enemies smell blood in the water.
