Senate Majority Leader John Thune just got a masterclass in leadership from his own home state – and it's not a good look for the supposed Republican leader dragging his feet on President Trump's SAVE America Act.

The South Dakota House of Representatives passed SB 175 on Wednesday, delivering the kind of election integrity measures that Thune should have already gotten to Trump's desk by now. Instead, patriots in Pierre are showing Washington how real conservatives get things done while their senator plays political games with America's electoral future.

SB 175 mirrors the federal SAVE America Act in requiring proof of citizenship for voter registration – you know, that radical concept that you should actually be an American to vote in American elections. It's common sense legislation that 80% of Americans support, including Democrats, yet Thune treats it like radioactive waste.

Home State Humiliation

Think about the optics here, folks. Thune's own state legislators looked at the mess in Washington and said, "We're not waiting for our senator to grow a spine." They took matters into their own hands and delivered for their constituents while Thune hemmed and hawed in the swamp.

"South Dakota is leading where Washington won't follow," one state legislator told reporters after the vote.

This isn't just about election integrity – it's about leadership. Trump campaigned on the SAVE Act, Americans voted for it, and now we have a Republican majority that should be rubber-stamping conservative priorities. Instead, we get vintage swamp creature behavior from Thune, who seems more worried about what the Washington Post editorial board thinks than delivering for the America First movement.

The Real Question

While South Dakota moves forward with protecting their elections, Thune continues his Washington shuffle, finding excuses instead of results. His own state just showed him exactly how popular and necessary these reforms are – so what's his excuse now?

Maybe it's time for South Dakota to find a senator who fights as hard as their state legislature does. Patriots deserve leaders who act like they actually want to win, not career politicians who treat conservative victories like embarrassing relatives at Christmas dinner.

I've been calling Thune's office weekly about the SAVE Act and getting nothing but generic responses. Meanwhile his own state shows it can be done. Unbelievable.

As someone who lives here, I can tell you our state legislature doesn't mess around when it comes to election integrity. Wish Thune would take notes from his own backyard!

Your state is doing it right! Every state should follow South Dakota's example.

This is exactly why we need term limits. These career politicians get comfortable and stop fighting for what matters.

Finally! South Dakota shows what real leadership looks like while Thune sits on his hands. We need representatives who actually REPRESENT us, not the DC swamp.

Exactly right! Thune has been in DC too long and forgotten who sent him there.

Can someone explain why Thune would drag his feet on something this important? What's his excuse this time?
