Arizona's radical Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs has hit a new low, even for the left. In an act of pure political vindictiveness, Hobbs vetoed legislation that would have created a specialty license plate honoring Charlie Kirk, the beloved Turning Point USA founder who was brutally assassinated last September.
The bill, which passed with bipartisan support in the Arizona legislature, would have allowed residents to purchase commemorative plates celebrating Kirk's legacy of empowering young conservatives and defending American values. But apparently, that's too much for Hobbs to stomach.
"This is petty and callous, even by Democrat standards," said one Arizona Republican lawmaker who worked on the legislation. "Charlie Kirk was gunned down for his beliefs, and now Katie Hobbs is dancing on his grave. It's absolutely disgusting."
Kirk, who built Turning Point USA into the nation's largest conservative youth organization, was murdered outside his Phoenix office in what authorities called a politically-motivated assassination. His death sent shockwaves through the conservative movement and sparked nationwide calls for unity against political violence.
Democrats Show Their True Colors
But unity is apparently the last thing on Hobbs' mind. Instead of honoring a young conservative leader who dedicated his life to educating America's youth about constitutional principles, she's chosen to play partisan politics with his memory.
"This tells you everything you need to know about today's Democrat Party," said Arizona GOP Chairman. "They claim to oppose political violence, but then they spit on the victims when it serves their agenda. Katie Hobbs should be ashamed of herself."
The veto represents everything wrong with the radical left's approach to governance – putting party politics above basic human decency and respect for the dead.
Kirk's family expressed disappointment but not surprise at Hobbs' decision. "We knew the left hated Charlie when he was alive," said a family spokesperson. "Apparently death doesn't change that."
Arizona patriots deserve better than a governor who can't even show basic respect for a murdered conservative. Will voters remember this shameful display when Hobbs is up for reelection?
