In a stunning break from Democratic Party orthodoxy, Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) has refused to join his fellow Democrats in what appears to be a coordinated political attack against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over recent military operations in Iran.
Every single member of the Senate Democratic Caucus signed a letter Wednesday demanding "answers" from Secretary Hegseth regarding Operation Epic Fury's strike on Iranian targets - except Fetterman. The Pennsylvania Senator's refusal to participate in the partisan pile-on has left Democrats scrambling and exposed the political nature of their so-called "concern."
The Democrats are up in arms over a Feb. 28 strike that destroyed an Iranian facility in Minab during the opening day of Operation Epic Fury. While the left-wing media and Congressional Democrats cry crocodile tears, they conveniently ignore that Iran has been funding terrorism and threatening American interests for decades.
Fetterman Shows Spine While Democrats Play Politics
Fetterman's decision not to sign the letter raises serious questions about what his Democratic colleagues are really up to. Are they genuinely concerned about military operations, or is this just another attempt to undermine the Trump administration and score cheap political points?
"It's telling that 49 Senate Democrats immediately jumped at the chance to attack our Defense Secretary, but Fetterman wouldn't go along with it," said one GOP Senate aide. "Maybe he actually understands that America needs to project strength, not weakness, in the face of Iranian aggression."
The fact that Democrats are more concerned about attacking Pete Hegseth than they are about Iranian terrorism tells you everything you need to know about their priorities.
This isn't the first time Fetterman has broken ranks with the radical left wing of his party. The Pennsylvania Senator has shown occasional flashes of common sense that put him at odds with the Bernie Sanders-AOC crowd that now controls Democratic policy.
While Democrats waste time with political theater, President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth are focused on actually protecting American interests abroad. Isn't it refreshing to have leadership that puts America First instead of apologizing for our strength?
