REPUBLICANS Consider 'Talking Filibuster' to RAM Through Trump's SAVE America Voting Act

Senate Republicans are seriously considering deploying the "talking filibuster" to force through President Trump's SAVE America Act, which would mandate proof of citizenship and photo ID for all federal elections - legislation Trump has called his "No. 1 priority."

The SAVE America Act represents the most significant election integrity reform in decades, requiring Americans to prove they're actually citizens before casting ballots in federal races. But Democrats are expected to mount fierce resistance, potentially forcing Republicans to use procedural hardball to deliver on Trump's mandate.

Under the current Senate rules, Democrats can simply invoke a filibuster without actually having to stand on the floor and debate. The "talking filibuster" would force them to continuously hold the floor, speaking non-stop to maintain their obstruction - exactly like Jimmy Stewart in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."

Making Democrats Actually WORK for Their Obstruction

"If Democrats want to block common-sense election security measures that 80% of Americans support, they should have to explain themselves publicly for hours on end," said one Republican source familiar with the discussions.

The strategy would expose Democrats' radical opposition to basic voting safeguards. While they claim requiring proof of citizenship is "voter suppression," most Americans understand it's simply common sense - you need an ID to buy beer, but not to choose the President?

President Trump has made election integrity the cornerstone of his second-term agenda, and Republicans know they have a mandate to deliver. The 2024 election gave the GOP control of both chambers specifically to pass reforms like the SAVE Act.

"We're not going to let Chuck Schumer and his cronies run out the clock on election security. If they want to filibuster citizenship requirements, let them explain that to the American people."

The talking filibuster hasn't been used in decades, but desperate times call for bold action. With Democrats increasingly relying on non-citizen votes and ballot harvesting schemes, the SAVE Act represents an existential threat to their power structure.

Will Republicans finally show some backbone and force Democrats to publicly defend their anti-American voting policies? Patriots across the country are watching to see if the GOP will deliver on Trump's top priority.

Good! Use every tool available. After what we saw in 2020 with ballot harvesting and drop boxes everywhere, we need the SAVE Act now more than ever.

Finally! We need election integrity more than ever. The talking filibuster is exactly what the founders intended - make them actually stand up there and explain why they oppose secure elections.

Exactly right! Let them explain to America why they're against voter ID and signature verification.

About time Republicans showed some backbone! Do whatever it takes to get this passed.

Question - does the SAVE Act also address signature verification requirements? I know it covers the ID requirements but wasn't sure about the signature matching process that seems to vary so much by state.

I have to show ID to buy beer, get on a plane, even rent a hotel room. Why is asking for ID to vote somehow controversial?

Same here - I need ID for everything at my business. It's just common sense.
