You can't make this stuff up, folks. Eric Swalwell—the same Democrat who had cozy relationships with Chinese spies and pushed the Russia hoax for years—now wants to be California's governor. There's just one tiny problem: even he doesn't want to live in the Golden State disaster zone he's campaigning to lead.
According to reports, Swalwell appears to be joining the exodus of normal Americans fleeing California's crime-ridden, overtaxed, over-regulated wasteland. But unlike the everyday patriots escaping Gavin Newsom's socialist experiment, Swalwell wants to have it both ways—govern the state while living somewhere that actually functions.
This is peak Democrat hypocrisy. These are the same people who lecture us about climate change while flying private jets, preach about gun control while surrounded by armed security, and demand higher taxes while hiding their wealth in offshore accounts. Now we can add "campaigns to govern a state he won't live in" to the list.
California: Great to Rule, Terrible to Live In
What does it tell you about the state of California when even its own politicians are looking for the exits? Under decades of Democrat rule, the once-great state has become a cautionary tale of progressive policies run amok. Skyrocketing crime, homeless encampments, businesses fleeing, middle-class families priced out—this is the legacy Swalwell wants to continue.
Remember, this is the same Eric Swalwell who somehow ended up on the House Intelligence Committee despite his documented connections to suspected Chinese spy Fang Fang. Now he wants access to an entire state's resources and information. What could go wrong?
"When your own politicians won't live in the state they want to govern, that tells you everything you need to know about their failed policies," one California Republican observed.
The American people see right through this charade. If California is such a progressive paradise, why are its leaders looking elsewhere to call home? Maybe because they know the truth: their policies have turned the Golden State into fool's gold.
Will California voters finally wake up and reject politicians who won't even live with the consequences of their own failed leadership? Or will they continue voting for representatives who campaign from a safe distance?
