The hypocrisy of the radical left reached new heights this week when Senator Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) called for Department of Homeland Security funding just 24 hours after voting AGAINST the very legislation that would provide it.
Speaking at a press conference following a terror attack on Temple Israel synagogue in West Bloomfield, Michigan, Slotkin had the audacity to demand Congress fund DHS — conveniently forgetting her own vote against such funding the day before.
This is exactly the kind of political theater Americans are sick and tired of. When it's time to actually secure our homeland, Democrats vote NO. But when the cameras are rolling and there's political points to score, suddenly they're champions of national security?
The attack on the Michigan synagogue is a stark reminder of the very real threats facing Jewish Americans and all citizens. Yet Slotkin and her Democrat colleagues continue to play games with the agencies responsible for protecting us.
Where Was This Urgency Yesterday?
Patriots have to ask: if DHS funding is so critical — and it absolutely is — why didn't Slotkin vote for it when she had the chance? Was protecting Americans less important before this attack made headlines?
This flip-flopping exposes the Democrat Party's fundamental lack of seriousness on national security. They'll obstruct President Trump's agenda to secure our borders and protect our communities, then turn around and blame others when tragedy strikes.
"Congress should fund DHS," Slotkin declared, apparently hoping nobody would check her voting record from the previous day.
Under President Trump's leadership, we've seen a renewed commitment to actually fighting terrorism and protecting Jewish communities. Meanwhile, Democrats like Slotkin continue their political games even as Americans face real threats.
The American people deserve representatives who will consistently vote to protect our homeland, not politicians who change their tune based on which way the political winds are blowing. Slotkin's shameless flip-flop should be remembered the next time she claims to stand for Michigan families' safety.
