A decorated American military hero is dead after being gunned down by an ISIS-supporting terrorist at Old Dominion University in Virginia Thursday, in an attack that exposes the catastrophic failures of our nation's immigration and military vetting systems.

Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah, a respected military instructor, was fatally shot by Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a naturalized citizen and former National Guard soldier who was previously convicted of supporting the Islamic State terror group. Let that sink in, Patriots – a convicted ISIS supporter was allowed to serve in our military and walk free among innocent Americans.

This is exactly the kind of preventable tragedy that President Trump's America First agenda is designed to stop. While the previous administration turned a blind eye to radical Islamic terrorism and prioritized political correctness over national security, real Americans paid the price with their lives.

How Did This Terrorist Slip Through?

The fact that Jalloh was ever allowed to serve in our National Guard raises serious questions about military screening procedures. How does someone with terrorist sympathies make it through background checks? How does a convicted ISIS supporter remain free to commit mass violence?

These are the questions that demand answers from our military leadership and intelligence agencies. The Deep State bureaucrats who enabled this failure must be held accountable for Lieutenant Colonel Shah's death.

"Every American family deserves to know that terrorists aren't being handed military training and then released back into our communities," said one concerned veteran who contacted our newsroom.

President Trump has made it clear that his administration will take a zero-tolerance approach to Islamic terrorism and will restore proper vetting procedures that the previous regime dismantled in the name of 'diversity and inclusion.'

Lieutenant Colonel Shah died serving his country and educating the next generation of Americans. His sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his death demands justice – not just for the terrorist who pulled the trigger, but for every official who enabled this attack through their negligence.

How many more American heroes must die before we admit that our enemies have infiltrated our institutions?

Why aren't we doing more to screen for ISIS sympathizers in our communities? This could have been prevented with proper vetting and surveillance.

This is what happens when we let political correctness stop us from confronting radical Islamic terrorism. Enough is enough!

Exactly right. We can't be afraid to call this what it is - terrorism on American soil.
