In a jaw-dropping display of establishment thinking, former Obama DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson told Fox News that stripping citizenship from naturalized Americans who support terrorism is just too much work – even after a terror attack rocked Old Dominion University.
Johnson's comments came during Friday's broadcast of "America's Newsroom" as he discussed the shocking attack carried out by a naturalized citizen who had previously been convicted of supporting terrorists. Instead of backing President Trump's common-sense approach to denaturalization, Johnson whined that the legal process is "very cumbersome."
"I'd rather [the] suspect be in jail," Johnson said, apparently content with American taxpayers footing the bill to house and feed terrorist sympathizers for decades rather than simply removing their fraudulently-obtained citizenship and sending them packing.
The Obama Administration's Failed Legacy on Immigration
This is exactly the kind of weak, bureaucratic thinking that got America into this mess in the first place. While hardworking Americans demand accountability and swift justice, Deep State veterans like Johnson prefer to maintain the status quo – even when it puts innocent lives at risk.
"The American people are tired of excuses from the same failed establishment figures who created these problems," said one immigration policy expert. "If someone becomes a naturalized citizen and then supports terrorism, that citizenship should be revoked immediately."
Johnson's defeatist attitude stands in stark contrast to President Trump's America First approach, which prioritizes the safety and security of law-abiding Americans over the comfort of bureaucrats who find constitutional enforcement "cumbersome."
The Old Dominion attack serves as yet another reminder that America's immigration system has been compromised by decades of establishment politicians who prioritize political correctness over public safety. How many more attacks will it take before the Deep State admits their approach has failed?
Patriots deserve leaders who will fight for America's security, not make excuses for why protecting Americans is too much trouble.
