BREAKTHROUGH: Rep. Johnson Says SAVE America Act Could PASS Senate With 'Talking Filibuster' Strategy

Rep. Dusty Johnson (R-SD) delivered a dose of reality and hope to conservatives frustrated with the slow pace of election integrity reform, telling Breitbart News that passing the SAVE America Act through the Senate is simply a matter of "math" and Republican backbone.

In an exclusive interview, Johnson laid out the strategic pathway that could finally force through the critical legislation requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections—if enough Senate Republicans are willing to support a "talking filibuster" that would put Democrats on the spot.

"It comes down to math," Johnson explained, cutting through the typical Washington doublespeak that has allowed Democrats to block common-sense election security measures for years.

"If we can get enough Senate Republicans to back a talking filibuster, we can make this happen," Johnson stated, offering a glimmer of hope to millions of Americans demanding election integrity.

The SAVE America Act represents everything that patriots have been fighting for—requiring actual proof of American citizenship before casting a ballot in federal elections. It's such basic common sense that you have to wonder why Democrats are so terrified of it passing.

But here's where it gets interesting, folks. A talking filibuster would force Senate Democrats to stand on the floor and explain to the American people why they oppose verifying citizenship before voting. Imagine Chuck Schumer or Elizabeth Warren having to defend for hours why non-citizens should influence American elections.

The Math That Could Save America

Johnson's frank assessment reveals what many conservatives suspected—there are enough votes to pass meaningful election reform, but only if Republican senators show some spine when it matters most.

This isn't just about parliamentary procedures. This is about whether the Republican Party will use every tool at their disposal to secure our elections while they have the chance, or whether they'll let another opportunity slip away while Democrats regroup for 2028.

The question now becomes: Will Senate Republicans step up and fight for election integrity, or will they find another excuse to let the swamp win?

Can someone explain how the talking filibuster would work differently than the current system? Would they need 60 votes to end debate?

From what I understand, they'd still need 60 to invoke cloture, but senators would have to physically hold the floor to maintain the filibuster instead of just filing paperwork.

Finally! Rep. Johnson is showing real leadership here. The talking filibuster is exactly what we need to force Democrats to actually defend their positions on the record.

Absolutely agree! Make them stand up there for hours explaining why they oppose election integrity.

Love this approach but I'm skeptical we have enough Republicans with the backbone to actually follow through.

My students ask me all the time why we don't require voter ID everywhere. This bill would finally give me a good answer to give them about federal elections.

This is brilliant strategy. I remember watching old footage of actual filibusters where senators had to stay on their feet and keep talking.

Been waiting decades for someone to use the talking filibuster strategically like this. Johnson might be onto something big here.

Same here. The silent filibuster has been abused by both parties for too long.

As someone who's run local elections, the SAVE Act provisions just make common sense. We require ID for everything else, why not voting?

YES! This is exactly what we voted for!
