That's right, Patriots. According to these progressive masterminds, the real problem isn't the thieves ransacking stores with impunity – it's the technology that allows honest customers to scan their own groceries.
Backwards Logic at Its Finest
This is peak Democrat thinking: when crime spirals out of control because you've handcuffed law enforcement and coddled criminals, don't address the root cause. Instead, blame the victims and punish law-abiding business owners who are just trying to operate efficiently.
Mayor Zohran Mamdani and his fellow travelers on the City Council apparently believe that forcing businesses to hire more cashiers will somehow stop determined shoplifters from walking out with merchandise. Because nothing says "crime prevention" like making it harder for legitimate customers to make purchases quickly.
"This is what happens when you elect politicians who view criminals as victims and business owners as the enemy," said one frustrated NYC retailer.
Meanwhile, these same Democrats have spent years defunding police, supporting no-cash-bail policies, and turning their city into a playground for criminals. But sure, let's blame the self-checkout machines.
The Real Solution They're Ignoring
Here's a radical idea: How about actually prosecuting thieves? How about supporting the NYPD instead of demonizing them? How about making criminals face real consequences instead of catch-and-release policies that put the same offenders back on the streets within hours?
But that would require admitting their soft-on-crime policies have been an absolute disaster – something these ideologues will never do.
