Instead of working toward a solution, Chuck Schumer's Democrats have responded with a list of extreme demands designed to be rejected — demands that would effectively reinstate Joe Biden's catastrophic open-border policies that allowed millions of illegal aliens to pour into our country.
Their proposals would:
• Gut border security operations that have finally brought order to our southern border
• Protect criminal illegal aliens from deportation
• Defund the very law enforcement officers keeping Americans safe
• Roll back every single historic gain this Administration has achieved
These aren't serious negotiating positions. These are poison pills designed to prolong the pain.
The Defund-the-Police Party Strikes Again
Is anyone really surprised? This is the same Democrat Party that cheered as radicals burned American cities in 2020. The same party that demanded we "defund the police" while violent crime skyrocketed. The same party that turned a blind eye as fentanyl flooded across Biden's open border, killing over 100,000 Americans every single year.
Now they want to defund border security too.
President Trump inherited the most secure border in American history during his first term — and then watched Joe Biden destroy it on day one. It took years of dedicated work to undo that damage. Secretary Noem and her team at DHS have achieved what the so-called "experts" said was impossible.
And Democrats want to tear it all down to score political points.
The Solution Is Simple
There's nothing complicated about ending this shutdown. Democrats simply need to stop playing games, abandon their radical demands, and vote to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security.
That's it. No poison pills. No open-borders provisions. No protection for criminal aliens. Just fund the department that keeps Americans safe.
But that would require Democrats to put American families ahead of their political agenda. And as they've now openly admitted, making people hurt is exactly what they want.
