Just three weeks into President Trump's second term, establishment Republicans are already showing their true colors. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) told the Washington Examiner that Trump would "absolutely" need Congress to approve any withdrawal from NATO, directly contradicting the President's constitutional authority over foreign policy.

"Yeah, absolutely, I don't think you can make that kind of a decision unilaterally," Thune said in an exclusive interview, essentially handcuffing the Commander-in-Chief before he's even had a chance to negotiate America's best interests with our so-called "allies."

This is exactly the kind of swamp behavior that Trump warned us about during his campaign. Here we have a Republican leader more concerned with protecting the globalist NATO establishment than supporting the President who just delivered the party a decisive electoral victory.

Deep State Strikes Back

Thune's comments reveal the uncomfortable truth: even with Republican control of Congress, the America First agenda faces opposition from within our own ranks. These are the same establishment figures who spent years undermining Trump's first term while pretending to support him publicly.

NATO has been bleeding America dry for decades, with European nations refusing to meet their defense spending commitments while expecting American taxpayers to foot the bill for their protection. Trump's threat to withdraw isn't reckless – it's smart negotiating that has already forced allies to increase their contributions.

"The President has clear constitutional authority over foreign policy decisions. Thune is essentially neutering Trump's negotiating power before he even sits down at the table."

Patriots didn't vote for Trump to have his hands tied by RINOs who are more loyal to foreign alliances than American sovereignty. We voted for America First policies, and that means putting our nation's interests ahead of globalist institutions.

The question is: will other Republican leaders follow Thune's lead in undermining the Trump agenda, or will they remember who actually won the election? Americans are watching, and we won't forget who stands with the swamp when it matters most.

Wait, doesn't the Constitution actually give Congress some role in treaties though? I'm all for Trump but I thought there were checks and balances here for a reason.

The President is Commander in Chief - he should have the authority to make these decisions quickly without congressional roadblocks.

This is exactly why we need to drain the swamp completely! Thune is supposed to be on Trump's team but he's already blocking America First policies before Trump even takes office.

100% agree. These establishment Republicans are worse than Democrats sometimes because at least we know where Dems stand.
