House Republican leaders are falling in line behind President Trump's push to renew the controversial FISA Section 702 surveillance program for 18 months, setting up a fierce battle with conservative members who refuse to hand the intelligence community more weapons to spy on American citizens.

The divide exposes a fundamental tension within the GOP: loyalty to Trump versus deep skepticism of the same federal agencies that weaponized surveillance powers against Trump himself during the Russia hoax years.

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence members laid out the extension plan Thursday, arguing the program expires next month and needs immediate renewal. But here's the problem, patriots: this is the same surveillance authority the Deep State used to justify spying on Trump's 2016 campaign.

The Deep State's Track Record

Let's be crystal clear about what we're dealing with here. The FBI and intelligence agencies have repeatedly abused FISA powers to target political opponents, leak classified information, and undermine conservative movements. From Carter Page to countless other Americans, these agencies have proven they cannot be trusted with broad surveillance authorities.

Many House conservatives are rightfully asking: why are we rushing to renew powers that were used against President Trump and his supporters? Why should we trust agencies that spent years trying to destroy the MAGA movement?

"We cannot ignore the documented history of FISA abuse by federal agencies who view conservative Americans as the real threat to their power," one House conservative told reporters.

The 18-month timeline conveniently pushes any real FISA reform past the 2026 midterms, giving the administrative state breathing room to continue business as usual.

Patriots Demand Real Reform

This isn't about being weak on national security – it's about protecting the Constitution from domestic enemies in three-letter agencies. Real conservatives want robust tools to fight foreign threats, but with ironclad protections for American citizens and proper oversight.

The question patriotic Americans must ask: will President Trump use this renewal to finally drain the swamp and reform these corrupt agencies, or will the Deep State get another free pass to spy on We the People?

Trump knows what he's doing here. He understands the intel community better than most and if he says we need FISA renewal, I trust his judgment on national security matters.

But didn't they use FISA to spy on his own campaign? I'm conflicted on this one.

Can someone explain why Trump changed his position on this? Last time around he was calling FISA corrupt after what happened with Carter Page.

Exactly. Being president gives you access to threats the public doesn't see.

He's probably getting different intel briefings now. Sometimes you have to separate campaign politics from governing reality.

This is exactly why we need Trump back in 2024 - someone who can actually unite the party and make the tough calls on security.

Finally some leadership on national security! The far-right isolationists in the House don't understand the real threats we're facing.

My son serves overseas and I want our intelligence agencies to have what they need to keep our troops safe. If Trump says it's necessary, that's good enough for me.

House GOP needs to get their act together! We can't afford to be divided when China and Iran are breathing down our necks.

I hate being surveilled by the deep state as much as anyone, but we do need tools to go after foreign terrorists. There has to be a middle ground with proper oversight.
