For decades, the conservative establishment has lectured patriots about the sacred importance of "principled conservatism" – a bloodless fusion of free-market economics and polite traditionalism that sounds great in think tank papers but has been an absolute disaster at actually conserving anything.
Frank Meyer's famous "fusionism" that supposedly created the modern conservative movement was nothing more than a temporary political alliance designed to fight communism. But here's the dirty secret the Never Trumpers don't want you to know: those lofty principles were never adequate for actually winning and holding power in America.
Just look at the track record. Barry Goldwater's "principled" faction got absolutely crushed in 1964. The only reason Ronald Reagan succeeded was because he understood something the country club conservatives refuse to admit – you need working-class white Catholics, not just abstract philosophy, to build a winning coalition.
The Establishment's Epic Failure
While conservative intellectuals spent 30 years writing flowery essays about "limited government" and "free markets," what did we actually get? Mass immigration that depressed wages. Trade deals that shipped jobs to China. Cultural institutions captured by radical leftists. A Deep State that weaponized federal agencies against conservatives.
The so-called "principled conservatives" were too busy playing footsie with the Washington Post editorial board to notice that America was being systematically destroyed from within.
"The difference between losers and winners isn't principles – it's understanding how to build coalitions that actually fight back against the Left's assault on our nation."
President Trump proved there's a better way. Forget the consultant class and their focus-grouped talking points. Speak directly to forgotten Americans who've been betrayed by both parties. Fight the rigged system instead of playing by rules written by our enemies.
America First Actually Works
The Trump-Vance administration isn't constrained by the failed orthodoxies that kept Republicans losing for decades. They're focused on results: securing the border, bringing jobs back, dismantling the administrative state, and putting America first.
The question for patriots is simple: Do you want more decades of "principled" losing, or do you want leaders who actually fight for your interests? The choice couldn't be clearer.
