House Democrats are circling the wagons around Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) after her convicted criminal security guard died in a violent SWAT standoff, with top Democratic leadership now questioning whether Congress should even investigate how taxpayer dollars funded this disaster.
Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA), a member of House Democratic leadership, dismissed calls for a congressional probe into Crockett's decision to hire a convicted felon for her security detail using public funds. The guard's death during a police standoff has raised serious questions about the vetting process for taxpayer-funded congressional security.
Democrats Protect Their Own
Instead of demanding accountability for how public money was used to employ someone with a criminal background, Aguilar is essentially asking: "Nothing to see here, folks." This is the same party that spent four years investigating every Trump administration decision with a microscope, but when one of their own makes a catastrophic hiring decision, suddenly oversight isn't important?
"We need to ask whether this is really something Congress should be spending time investigating," Aguilar reportedly said, showing the typical Democrat double standard when it comes to accountability.
The American people deserve answers about how their tax dollars are being spent on congressional security. If Crockett's office failed to properly vet this individual, what other security failures are happening across the Democrat caucus? And why are Democratic leaders more interested in protecting Crockett than protecting the integrity of congressional security protocols?
This incident highlights the broader problem with the Washington swamp mentality – rules for thee, but not for me. While hardworking Americans face background checks for basic jobs, apparently convicted criminals can land cushy taxpayer-funded security gigs if they know the right Democrat congresswoman.
House Republicans should ignore Aguilar's deflection and launch a full investigation immediately. The American people have a right to know how their money is being wasted and whether our representatives are putting politics above public safety. Will the GOP demand the accountability that Democrats refuse to provide?
