Forty-seven Senate Democrats just proved they were lying all along about supporting voter ID requirements, voting down a straightforward amendment that would require photo identification to cast a ballot in federal elections.
The betrayal came Thursday when Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) introduced a simple amendment to the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act. The amendment would require basic photo ID to vote – something as routine as showing your driver's license, state ID, or passport.
But here's where it gets really rich, Patriots: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has repeatedly claimed he supports voter ID requirements. Yet when push came to shove, Schumer and his Democratic colleagues showed their true colors by voting against the very policy they pretended to support.
Democrats' Election Integrity Theater EXPOSED
This vote strips away the mask Democrats have been wearing for years. While they pay lip service to "election integrity" in public, behind closed doors they're doing everything possible to keep our elections vulnerable to fraud and manipulation.
Think about it – what legitimate reason could there be to oppose requiring ID to vote? You need an ID to buy alcohol, board a plane, open a bank account, or rent a car. But somehow, Democrats think voting in federal elections should have lower security standards than buying a six-pack of beer.
The hypocrisy is staggering. Schumer talks a big game about supporting voter ID when the cameras are rolling, but when it's time to actually protect election integrity, he folds like a cheap suit.
This is exactly why President Trump's second-term agenda includes comprehensive election integrity reforms. The American people deserve to know their votes count and that our elections are secure from fraud, dead voters, and illegal voting.
The 47 Democrats who voted against this common-sense measure just told you everything you need to know about their real priorities. They don't want secure elections – they want elections they can manipulate.
It's time to hold these politicians accountable. Do you really trust lawmakers who oppose the most basic election security measures to protect your right to vote?
