Failed former Republican Rep. Mark Sanford is making a pathetic attempt at political resurrection, announcing a comeback bid for his old South Carolina House seat – the same seat he lost in 2018 after President Trump personally crushed his anti-MAGA campaign.
Sanford, who was decisively booted from office eight years ago when Trump-backed challenger Katie Arrington demolished him in the Republican primary, apparently thinks American voters have forgotten his years of Trump-bashing and establishment boot-licking.
The timing of this announcement couldn't be more telling. With President Trump now in his second term and the MAGA movement stronger than ever, here comes Sanford crawling out of political exile to try and undermine the America First agenda that South Carolina voters overwhelmingly support.
A Track Record of Betrayal
Let's not forget why Sanford lost in the first place. While President Trump was fighting to secure our borders, rebuild our economy, and put America First, Sanford was busy playing the role of useful idiot for the mainstream media – constantly attacking Trump and providing ammunition for the radical left.
South Carolina patriots saw right through his act in 2018, and they'll see through it again. Sanford represents everything wrong with the old Republican establishment: weak on immigration, soft on China, and more concerned with getting pats on the head from Washington Post editorial writers than fighting for working Americans.
The real tragedy? When Arrington defeated Sanford in that 2018 primary, she went on to lose the general election to Democrat Joe Cunningham, handing a safe Republican seat to the opposition. That's the kind of chaos that follows when establishment RINOs create party division instead of uniting behind the Trump agenda.
MAGA Movement Stronger Than Ever
Sanford's comeback attempt is doomed to fail for one simple reason: the Republican Party has moved on. We're no longer the party of country club elites and swamp creatures. We're the party of working families, secure borders, and America First policies.
South Carolina voters already rejected Sanford once when Trump was just getting started. Now, with Trump in his second term and the MAGA movement delivering real results for American families, does anyone seriously think they'll embrace this washed-up never-Trumper?
The question isn't whether Sanford will lose again – it's how badly the voters will embarrass him this time around.
