Former South Carolina Rep. Mark Sanford – the same establishment RINO who spent years attacking President Trump and got absolutely demolished for it – is somehow delusional enough to think he can stage a political comeback in 2026.
The disgraced politician announced his bid to reclaim his old House seat, apparently forgetting that Trump-backed candidate Katie Arrington sent him packing in the 2018 Republican primary after voters got sick of his constant anti-Trump grandstanding.
Sanford, who became a poster child for Republican swamp creatures during Trump's first term, spent more time on CNN and MSNBC bashing our President than he did fighting for his constituents. The result? A crushing primary defeat that should have ended his political career for good.
A Pattern of Failure and Betrayal
This is the same Mark Sanford who:
• Consistently opposed President Trump's America First agenda
• Voted against key conservative priorities
• Became a darling of the fake news media for his Trump criticism
• Left his constituents behind to pursue his own political ambitions
And let's not forget his personal scandals that made South Carolina a national laughingstock. This guy has more baggage than a Delta Airlines carousel.
"The people of South Carolina already rejected Mark Sanford once when it mattered most. They chose Trump's vision over the establishment's failed policies," said one local GOP activist.
What's particularly galling is the timing. While President Trump is in the middle of delivering on his promises – securing our border, draining the swamp, and putting America First – this opportunist thinks he can ride back into office on the coattails of anti-Trump sentiment that simply doesn't exist anymore.
South Carolina Deserves Better
The Palmetto State has thrived under Trump's leadership and doesn't need yesterday's failed politicians trying to relitigate 2018. Sanford's comeback attempt reeks of desperation from someone who can't accept that the Republican Party has moved on from weak-kneed establishment types.
Patriots in South Carolina's 1st Congressional District have a choice: stick with the proven Trump agenda that's delivered results, or go backward with a career politician whose greatest achievement was getting thrown out of office.
Something tells me they'll make the right choice – again.
