Virginia Republicans are desperately trying to project confidence after their much-touted anti-gerrymandering get-out-the-vote operation came under fire, with GOP operatives now bizarrely expressing faith in Democrat Barack Obama's advertising efforts to carry them across the finish line.
The stunning admission came as Virginia GOP strategist Ryer acknowledged that traditional campaign tactics weren't cutting it. "It's not going to be a television ad that wins the day. It's going to be that person-to-person contact that ends up putting us over the top. So we've engineered our campaign that way," Ryer said, according to The Federalist.
But that "engineering" appears to be falling apart at the seams, leaving establishment Republicans scrambling for alternatives – including relying on Obama's star power with Democrat voters.
Election Integrity Questions Mount
The Virginia GOP's struggles come as election integrity concerns continue plaguing Republican operations nationwide. Social media users are raising pointed questions about GOP practices, with one Twitter user posting: "Hey @potus @GOP @GuntherEagleman @catturd2 Looks like you were right. There was election fraud...by the @GOP. Care to explain? #hypocrites" while linking to reports about Florida GOP volunteers accused of stealing election equipment.
Meanwhile, the Virginia political landscape has become increasingly contentious, with accusations flying about who's really looking out for American citizens versus illegal immigrants. One social media observer noted concerns about officials "aiding and abetting illegals" in response to attacks between gubernatorial candidates.
MAGA Patriots Deserve Better
This debacle highlights exactly why President Trump's America First movement resonated so powerfully with voters fed up with establishment GOP incompetence. While Trump's proven ground game and direct voter contact helped secure his decisive 2024 victory, Virginia Republicans are apparently still playing by the old, failed playbook.
The fact that Virginia GOP operatives are now banking on Democrat Obama ads to somehow help their cause shows just how disconnected these establishment Republicans have become from their own base. MAGA patriots didn't fight to put Trump back in the White House just to watch state-level Republicans fumble basic campaign operations.
When will establishment GOP learn that voters want authentic conservative fighters, not politicians who pin their hopes on the opposition party's messaging? Virginia Republicans better figure it out fast, or they'll find themselves explaining another preventable loss to angry constituents who are tired of excuses.
