Russian military spies turned thousands of American home internet routers into their personal surveillance network—but President Trump's Justice Department and FBI just pulled the plug on Vladimir Putin's cyber criminals in a major counterintelligence victory.
The Justice Department announced Tuesday that federal agents carried out a court-authorized operation to dismantle a sophisticated Russian military intelligence network that had been exploiting compromised routers inside the United States to intercept sensitive American data.
The operation, dubbed "Masquerade" by intelligence officials, targeted the notorious APT28 hacking group—also known as Fancy Bear—which had been hijacking DNS settings on TP-Link routers to steal Microsoft Outlook credentials and other valuable intelligence.

Social media intelligence accounts quickly highlighted the scope of the threat. "FBI and DOJ dismantled APT28's global DNS hijacking network exploiting TP-Link SOHO routers, targeting Microsoft Outlook domains to steal credentials," reported @TweetThreatNews, noting that the operation successfully "restored secure DNS settings."
German intelligence services also sounded the alarm, with reports indicating "thousands of devices are believed to have been compromised worldwide," according to warnings from "the FBI, the Federal Intelligence Service and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution."
This bold FBI action comes as the Trump administration faces multiple international challenges, with intelligence observers noting the timing alongside "NATO Chief Heads to White House" and ongoing tensions with both Russia and North Korea.
America First Cybersecurity
Unlike the previous administration's weak response to foreign cyber threats, the Trump-Vance team is taking decisive action to protect American digital infrastructure. The successful dismantling of this Russian spy network demonstrates that our intelligence agencies are finally working FOR America instead of against it.
Patriots should take note: if you own TP-Link routers or Wi-Fi extenders, check your DNS settings immediately. The Russians may have been reading your emails, accessing your personal data, and using your own internet connection to spy on your neighbors.
How many more foreign intelligence operations were allowed to flourish under the Biden regime's watch? And what other threats is the Trump administration quietly neutralizing to keep America safe?
