A shocking revelation has emerged about Texas State Senator Mayes Middleton's true priorities as he campaigns for Attorney General. The supposed conservative Republican authored Senate Bill 854 in January 2025 that would have gutted local communities' ability to protect themselves from unwanted religious developments - including Islamic "Sharia cities."
Middleton pitched his dangerous legislation as a solution to Texas' housing shortage, but the real impact would have been far more sinister. The bill would have stripped away fundamental local control, forcing Texas towns and cities to greenlight any "religious housing development" regardless of community standards or safety concerns.
This is exactly the kind of globalist overreach that Texas patriots have been fighting against for years. While President Trump works to secure our borders and protect American values, we have RINOs like Middleton trying to roll out the red carpet for Islamic enclaves that operate outside traditional American law.
Local Control Under Attack
The timing couldn't be worse. As the Trump administration launches its massive deportation operation to restore law and order, Middleton was busy trying to create safe havens for groups that may not share our constitutional values. His bill would have essentially created a religious exemption that could be exploited by any group claiming their housing needs are tied to their faith.
"This bill represents everything wrong with establishment Republicans who talk conservative but govern like liberals," said one Texas activist who requested anonymity.
Texas communities have every right to maintain their character and standards. Local zoning laws exist for good reasons - to protect property values, ensure public safety, and preserve the quality of life that attracts families to these areas in the first place.
Middleton's legislation would have thrown all of that out the window in favor of political correctness and religious accommodation that could fundamentally transform Texas towns forever. Is this really the kind of "conservative" leadership Texas needs in the Attorney General's office?
Patriots across the Lone Star State need to ask themselves: Can they trust Mayes Middleton to defend Texas values when he's already shown he's willing to sacrifice local control for the sake of appeasing special interests?
