A Wisconsin Republican is taking direct aim at one of the most outrageous scams in our broken immigration system - fake asylum seekers who claim to be fleeing persecution, then turn around and vacation in those same countries on the taxpayers' dime.
Rep. Tom Tiffany has introduced the SAFER Act (Stopping Asylum Fraud through Enhanced Review), legislation that would automatically strip asylum status from anyone caught traveling back to their supposed country of persecution for leisure.
The bill comes after the arrest of Soleimani's niece in Los Angeles for allegedly filing a fraudulent asylum claim. Think about that for a second, Patriots - the niece of one of Iran's most notorious terrorists was trying to game our asylum system while likely living it up on American soil.
The Vacation Scam That Proves They're Lying
Here's how the scam works: Foreign nationals claim they're fleeing persecution and can never return home safely. Our bleeding-heart bureaucrats rubber-stamp their asylum claims. Then these same "refugees" hop on planes back to their home countries for family weddings, business deals, and beach vacations.
If you're truly fleeing for your life, you don't go back for spring break. It's common sense - something that's been sorely lacking in our immigration system for decades.
"We cannot allow our generous asylum system to be exploited by fraudsters who view America as nothing more than a meal ticket," Tiffany stated. "Real refugees don't vacation in the countries they fled."
Finally, Someone Fighting Back
This is exactly the kind of America First legislation we need more of. While Democrats have spent years enabling immigration fraud and turning our asylum system into a joke, Republicans like Tiffany are finally fighting back with real solutions.
Under Trump's leadership, we're seeing a complete transformation of how America handles immigration. Mass deportations are underway, the border wall is being completed, and now Congress is moving to close the loopholes that have allowed fraudsters to make a mockery of legitimate asylum protections.
The question is: will establishment Republicans have the backbone to support this common-sense legislation, or will they cave to the open-borders lobby once again?
