A shocking revelation has emerged about Texas Republican State Senator Mayes Middleton's record as he campaigns for Attorney General – the candidate once pushed legislation that would have paved the way for Islamic "Sharia cities" across the Lone Star State while stripping local communities of their power to stop them.

According to The Federalist, Middleton filed Senate Bill 854 in January 2025, deceptively marketing it as a solution to Texas' housing shortage. But the devil was in the details: the bill would have stripped local governments of their constitutional authority to block religious housing developments, including what critics warned could become segregated Islamic communities operating under religious law.

The bombshell revelation has Texas conservatives asking serious questions about Middleton's judgment and commitment to local control – a cornerstone principle of conservative governance.

Social media erupted with concern from Texas patriots. "MY TEXAS FRIENDS KNOW THIS NAME.. STATE SEN. MAYES MIDDLETON! AUTHORED A BILL THAT WOULD STRIP LOCAL GOVERNMENTS OF THEIR ABILITY TO BLOCK RELIGIOUS HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS, INCLUDING THE CREATION OF ISLAMIC CITIES," warned Twitter user @MrLuigiMucci, sounding the alarm for Texas voters.

"This is exactly the kind of globalist overreach disguised as a housing solution that conservatives need to reject," one Texas activist told supporters.

The timing couldn't be worse for Middleton's AG campaign. Texas voters are looking for a fierce defender of American values and local control – not someone who would hand over community planning decisions to religious groups that may operate under foreign legal principles.

This revelation raises critical questions: Why would a supposedly conservative candidate push legislation that undermines local sovereignty? And what other surprises might be lurking in Middleton's legislative record?

Texas deserves an Attorney General who will fight FOR local communities, not against them. Voters need to ask themselves: Is this the kind of "conservative" leadership Texas needs in the AG's office?

This is why I always research beyond the campaign websites! Thanks for exposing this - sharing with my local GOP club immediately.

Wait, can someone explain how this bill would actually strip local control? I want to understand the specifics before the primary.

It would give state government override authority on local zoning and municipal decisions. Complete violation of federalism principles.

I've been following this candidate and something always felt off about their positions. This explains a lot - they're not the conservative they claim to be.

My city council fought hard to maintain our local ordinances last year. We can't have senators who would strip away that authority from our communities.

This is exactly why we need to vet our candidates more carefully! How can someone claim to be conservative while pushing bills that undermine local governance?

Absolutely agree. Local control is fundamental to conservative principles - this candidate clearly doesn't understand that.

Unbelievable! This candidate just lost my vote and my entire family's votes too.
